CK Kickboxing Program

The Kickboxing curriculum consists of drills all demonstrated in online videos. The drills are a mixture of all the concepts and techniques learned in classes.

Think of these curriculum drills as sequences and flows of the concepts and techniques.

Drills will continually be added and improved as things evolve.

Overview

  • Class hours and attendance is counted towards grading eligibility.

  • Approx. 32 hours between gradings.

  • Each grading a total of 5 drills can be graded.

  • Your grading will be an overall score based on the sum of all the drill scores you have completed and will equate to a rank.

  • A minimum score required to unlock drill levels (beginner, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, advanced.)

  • This first grading, anyone who has been training for more than 3 months can grade. (Beginner and Intermediate 1 drills only)

Process

  • Accumulate enough hours during the season to be eligible.

  • Select 5 drills to be graded on from curriculum.

  • Practice drills with others prior to grading during curriculum week.

  • You will be graded with a partner of your choice with a score out of 5 for every drill. (scoring criteria)

  • All scores will be accumulative over time and will determine your rank.

Scoring Criteria

  • Technique (the first principle)

  • Form (positioning of your whole body throughout the technique)

  • Speed (fast without compromising too much else)

  • Power (impact of the strike)

  • Accuracy (hitting where you're supposed to)

  • Timing (rhythm and tempo)

  • Balance (weight transfer and movement)

  • Efficiency (are you doing too much unnecessary stuff)

  • Fluidity/flow (smoothness, which is linked to speed)

  • Combining techniques (seamless combinations)

  • Correct reactions (timing and posture)

  • Correct pad-holding (hand positioning and reactions)
