North south escape to single leg takedown on knees.

  • Starting in bottom north south.

  1. Frame both hips with hands with back on mat.

  2. Move left hand to right hip and start to turn onto left side.

  3. Move right hand to left him and get to belly down position.

  4. Crawl forward and lock arms around their right leg.

  5. Move right hand to grip their calf/ankle with head on inside of their thigh.

  6. Stepup with right foot and drive with head to finish single leg takedown.

  7. Finish in side control with underhook and crossface.

Front headlock escape armdrag to side back.

  • Start in front headlock control with right arm inside.

  1. Posting on ground with left hand, use right hand to grab their right tricep and right foot stepped up.

  2. Start circling to the left pivoting on left knee, dragging right arm and turning away while reaching for the hip with left hand.

  3. End the escape with a final drag of the arm out while capturing the hip.

  4. Finish with seatbeat and back control with hooks in.

Passing butterfly

Butterfly bodylock pressure pass.

  • Starting with partner in seated butterfly guard.

  1. Lock body lock with right long arm, and left short arm.

  2. Drive partner down onto their back and walk knees to pin their ankles to their butt.

  3. Sprawl right hip to get your right knee to block their right ankle together with your left knee.

  4. Move left knee over their leg to connect it to their right hip.

  5. Trace right knee around their leg to bring both knees together passing their guard.

  6. Keep the body lock grip or move to underhook and crossface.

  7. Drive their knees away with hips and finish with their knees pointing away.

Backdoor cross staple pass to kneeride then mount.

  • Starting with partner in seated butterfly guard.

  1. Control their hips and use head on chest to drive their back to the mat.

  2. Use left elbow to push their knees to point to your right.

  3. Step up on right foot and slide left knee below their top leg to staple their bottom leg from the backside.

  4. Use right arm crossface to create space to bring right knee to their torso.

  5. Place both hands on mat above head to pummel legs quickly to kneeride to the left.

  6. Flatten and square their hips with kneeride then pummel over to full mount.

Kneebar from top halfguard

Kneebar from halfguard using back step setup.

  • Starting from top halfguard seated up.

  1. Post right hand on the ground inside their right armpit for base.

  2. With weight on right hand, back step with left left to the right, and get initial scoop of their leg with your left arm.

  3. Reach up with right hand to grab their left heel.

  4. Start to straighten their leg as you fall on your left side.

  5. Bring chest forward to connect to their leg and switch left hand up to assist right hand to control leg.

  6. Finish on your side by entending backwards, knees pinched and ankles crossed.

Kneebar from halfguard using knee-through setup.

  • Starting from top halfguard seated up.

  1. Scoop their top leg with your right arm.

  2. Slide left knee across their body as you turn away to face their legs.

  3. As you slide through reach with your left hand to control their ankle/heel as you complete the 180 degree turn.

  4. Use left arm to grab ankle/heel as you bring your left foot over by pulling them up in a way that puts them on their left side.

  5. Bring chest forward to connect to their leg and switch right hand up to assist left hand to control leg.

  6. Finish on your side by entending backwards, knees pinched and ankles crossed.

Side control subs

Darce choke from side control.

  • Starting from side control with partner in prayer position.

  1. *Partner turns on side and gets underhook.*

  2. Cup the back of their head with your left hand.

  3. Move right ear down towards their body and slide right arm under their neck till it appears behind their head.

  4. Slide left forearm through keeping pressure on back of their head to lock up the figure-4 lock and grabbing their body with left hand.

  5. Touch left hip to the ground while left elbow is posted on the ground too.

  6. Retract shoulder and pull elbow up towards the ceiling to finish.

Japanese necktie from side control.

  • Starting from side control with partner in prayer position.

  1. *Partner turns on side and gets underhook.*

  2. Cup the back of their head with your left hand.

  3. Move right ear down towards their body and slide right arm under their neck till it appears behind their head.

  4. Lock a gable grip and keep left elbow tight to keep pressure on back of their head.

  5. Trap their top leg and slide over their body to fall on your left side replacing elbow pressure on back of their head to chest pressure.

  6. Finish sub by pulling up into the choke while use chest pressure down on their head.

Front headlock subs

Anaconda choke

  • Starting in front headlock control (left arm trapped).

  1. Switch to elbow to elbow grip.

  2. Roll partner to the right by aiming head under their body.

  3. Land with both bodies on their side and lock up the figure-4 grip with arms.

  4. Finish sub by squeezing figure 4 and walking towards their feet for pressure on the back of their head.

Peruvian necktie

  • Starting in front headlock control.

  1. Securing S-grip with right palm facing up in the middle of their chest.

  2. Bring head forward towards their right hip as you angle to the right.

  3. With right knee on the ground next to their body step left foot over the back of their head.

  4. Fall sideways onto your left hip to swing right foot over their lower back.

  5. Finish sub by pulling backwards with your arms as you push them away with your hamstrings.

Monty python

  • Starting in front headlock control.

  1. Secure seatbelt grip, right hand hold left.

  2. Slide left knee forward around their left elbow.

  3. Connect left hip to their upper tricep and slide left knee across their body.

  4. Fall flat on back and throw right leg over their back to end in 3/4 guard.

  5. Finish sub by pull arms up into neck and bending sideways by aiming to connect right elbow to your own right hip.

Straight jacket system

Trapping arm from back control using straight grips, finish with rear naked choke.

  1. Starting with back seatbelt control with hooks on left control side.

  2. Establish straight grips.

  3. Push right arm down and throw right foot over their arm.

  4. Use heel to drag and secure arm behind the back.

  5. Work choking arm under the chin.

  6. Let go of left hand and switch to figure-4 grip to finish.

Trapping arm from back control using cross grips, finish with one arm choke finish.

  1. Starting with back seatbelt control with hooks on left control side.

  2. Establish cross grips.

  3. Push your left hand down and throw right foot over their right arm.

  4. Secure the arm without putting it behind their back.

  5. Switch left arm to control grip.

  6. Work choking arm under the chin.

  7. Finish choke with one arm.

Bottom halfguard kimura

  • Setting up kimura with bicep control.

  1. Start in bottom halfguard, with no underhook and only bicep control.

  2. Slide right wrist down towards their left wrist as you reach over with your left arm over their elbow.

  3. Push their left wrist down towards their legs and slide left hand deeper to lock figure-4 grip.

  4. Move their hand behind their back.

  5. Switch hips to lay onto left hip.

  6. Drive hand towards back of the head to finish.

Hip bump sweep from halfguard, pass using single wrist wrap, finish with side kimura.

  • Start in bottom halfguard, with no underhook and only bicep control.

  1. Lock up kimura grip.

  2. *Opponent defends by hiding elbow and smothering over their locked arm.*

  3. Walk feet and hips towards partner and use hip bump momentum to sweep to top.

  4. Switch to single wrist wrap with left hand and use right arm to free leg to side control.

  5. Switch back to kimura grip and finish from side control.

Knee shield attacks

Using the legover kimura finish position.

  • Starting with kneeshield.

  1. Lock up kimura on their left arm.

  2. Bring kneeshield leg over their head with hamstring connected to their neck.

  3. Use leg to control upward posture while using hamstring to push their head away to get their hand behind their back.

  4. Turn more onto left hip and push hand towards head to finish kimura.

From the legover kimura position, switch to reverse triangle from bottom and finish.

  • Starting with kneeshield.

  1. Work to getting to legover kimura position.

  2. While doing that partner passes guard, lock legs together to trap head and arm.

  3. Right right arm under their body to grab their body and get head under their body.

  4. Control their trapped arm with your left hand.

  5. Post right foot on the ground to turn left hip to the ground to adjust triangle at correct angle.

  6. Complete squeeze for finish.

From the legover kimura position, switch to bellydown armbar and flip to finish belly up.

  • Starting with kneeshield.

  1. Work to getting to legover kimura position. 


  2. While doing that partner passes guard, insert left leg in gap front of their body to finish in bellydown armbar position.

  3. Switch from left arm control of their arm to your right arm control.

  4. Use freed up left arm to bundle their legs and pull them over to sweep.

  5. Finish armbar correctly.

  6. Elbow trap sweep

Armbar defence

Armbar in guard figure-4 escape, pass to side control.

  • Start in partner's closed guard.

  1. *Partner transitions to armbar on your right arm.*

  2. Figure-4 arms and step up right foot to block hip with knee.

  3. Work left hand behind their top knee.

  4. Use downward pressure with left arm to control legs and extract right arm out.

  5. Grab hold of their left leg with your left arm and pass to the right.

  6. Finish in side control with leglace position.

Working figure-4 armbar escape starting on your back.

  • Start in belly up armbar (right arm trapped) with hands locked with gable grip (left palm up).

  1. Pull gable grip toward chest and slide left hand behind their left knee, grabbing bicep with right hand for figure-4 position.

  2. Pendulum swing legs side to side to get momentum to get to knees.

  3. Step up right foot to block hip with knee.

  4. Use downward pressure with left arm to control legs and extract right arm out.

  5. Grab hold of their left leg with your left arm and pass to the right.

  6. Finish in side control with leglace position.

Escaping belly up armbar using hitchhiker escape to side control.

  • Start in belly up armbar (right arm trapped) with hands locked with gable grip (left palm up).

  1. Start to walk feet left away from partner working to get onto left hip parralel to partner.

  2. Bring both arms above your head keeping hands locked.

  3. Bridge up on left shoulder to tuck left elbow under body and step over with right leg to turn body.

  4. Grab hold of their right leg with your right arm and pass to the left.

  5. Finish in side control with leglace position.

Escaping belly up armbar using inside leg grab escape.

  • Start in belly up armbar (right arm trapped) with hands locked with gable grip.

  1. Rock backwards up on shoulders to bring right leg towards chest and release hands to grab inside the back of the right knee with right hand.

  2. Use left hand to move their right foot and trap in between legs.

  3. Now use left hand to clear right leg off face and behind head.

  4. Bridge up over leg and turn towards partner ensuring to win right underhook to prevent back take.

  5. Finish in halfguard with underhook and cross face.

Guillotine defence

Guillotine defence in full closed guard.

  • Starting with locked in guillotine (using their right arm) with head on the ground.

  1. Use right hand to place pacman grip on their hip.

  2. Framing hand on hip, walk legs to the right to get their hip onto the ground as you look up to the sky.

  3. Use left hand to get grip inside their right wrist.

  4. Pull down on their wrist to create space to free head.

  5. Finish in closed guard with double bicep control.

Guillotine escape in 3/4 guard.

  • Starting with locked in guillotine (using their right arm, left leg over) with head on the ground.

  1. Using both hands tp frame their hips.

  2. Slide hips back wards free hips from leg by put hips onto mat.

  3. Run on feet away from their legs and bridge up onto back to get to side control on the other side.

  4. Square up and finish with underhook and crossface.

Cross Lapel choke defence

Early: grip fight head and weave drill. REMOVED

Defending cross choke in closed guard.

  • Start with full cross choke in closed guard.

  1. Slide wrist under the top choking arm and get hand to cheek.

  2. Use other hand to assist and break grip by pushing arm away.

  3. Reach for two hands on one on other hand.

  4. Weave head under other arm while keeping grip.

  5. Break remaining grip by posturing your head away as you push their arm away from you.
